Originally scheduled to open back in March, Design Builders’ new Bay of Plenty showhome is well worth the wait. Located right next to Omokoroa golf course, it’s a natural fit for a golfer, but this amazing home will appeal to all kinds of New Zealanders.
A younger couple looking to bring up a family will love it too. A middle-aged couple or a retired couple would enjoy the relaxing ambience of coastal living. It’s a home for all reasons.
There’s plenty of space and privacy. Four bedrooms flank a central open-plan living area, and the master suite is separated from the other bedroom wing. This home has a Hampton country-style feel and makes the most of the sun; it faces north-west, with sea views, and is sited so that you can enjoy the house in the afternoon and when relaxing at the end of the day.
Features include a three-sided fire and beautiful exposed rafters on both the outside and internally, to add warmth. The window details gave the Design Builders construction team a chance to show off their skills, and there’s also a plastered wall with a beautiful marble-stone effect. In the sitting room there’s a timber sarking feeling, thanks to timber cladding over the rafters.
Indoor–outdoor flow from kitchen through to the deck and out to the grass is excellent. This home has a LifeMark rating, so it’s designed to be liveable and safe for people of all ages and stages of life. Good access, flow, and a flat, level entry is paramount. Someone in a wheelchair can go from the road, into the house, through it, out to the lawn, even out to the washing line, because everything is on the same level.
Lisa Redshaw is an expert interior designer and is responsible for the showhome’s styling. Lisa chose the colours, furnishings, even the flowers. Interior designers such as Lisa can see the bigger picture and ultimately bring all the style elements together to create a coherent story.
Open Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 4pm, at 13 Serenity Drive, Omokoroa. Just follow the Design Builders signs from Gane Place.
