In addition to winning a Gold award, Mark and the team at Design Builders Wellington are the Regional Category Winners. This award signifies the highest scoring Gold award winner at the Wellington & Wairarapa 2022 Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards.
Oh you pretty wings
The four pavilions that form this high-end Upper Hutt home express their own character and purpose. Elegant design unites them beautifully and the overall effect is one of contemporary cohesion. Inspiration for the four-bedroom L-shaped residence came from the pavilion-style homes often found in the deep south. The 327sqm main house stretches out in a long line, while the garage sits at a perpendicular angle. The central pavilion and surrounding links contain the living spaces. The open-plan kitchen, dining and living area is flanked by a lounge and an outdoor room that faces the setting sun. The timber-lined outdoor room is equipped with every accoutrement for entertaining, including a wine fridge. The warm timber and neutral tones in this space reflect the exterior and hues of the rural surrounds. Extensive glazing throughout the home allows light to play across the variety of wood used. Deep timber-lined skylights in the outdoor and indoor kitchens drop natural light into both spaces.
